RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 21-year-old man found guilty of attempted murder for shooting his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend has been sentenced to 40 years in prison.

KRNV-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2i8l1cD ) that the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office said Wednesday that Cesar Eduardo Romero-Manzo was sentenced Dec. 15. The Sparks man had been convicted of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the February 2015 shooting.

Authorities say Romero-Manzo had crashed his car into the victim’s vehicle as the two were driving.

Both men exited their vehicles and Romero-Manzo shot the victim once in the chest, wounding the Sun Valley man. The victim was able to drive himself to the hospital to receive treatment.

Authorities found the gun wrapped inside a bandanna in the suspect’s vehicle.
