FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - A Southwest Florida sports bar and restaurant is asking a Republican club to hold its meetings somewhere else.

The Fort Myers News-Press reported Saturday (https://newspr.es/2h5Zr8N ) that the management of Duffy’s Sports Grill asked the Cape Coral Republican Club to move the location of its regular meetings.

The newspaper reported that the club had held meetings at Duffy’s for at least three years. Club president Bob Davies said they were asked to move because members support Donald Trump, who was elected president last month.

But Duffy’s president Jason Emmett said the decision had nothing to do with the candidate or the party. He said the group started bothering people in the dining area who just want to eat or watch a game on television.

Emmett said initially management asked club members for restraint but said that didn’t happen.
