BALTIMORE (AP) - Maryland Republicans are preparing to choose new party leadership.

The Baltimore Sun reports (https://bsun.md/2gSBDVD ) that state Republicans will gather Saturday to pick a replacement for Chairwoman Diana Waterman.

Four candidates are vying for the top job, including Sajid Tarar, who was head of American Muslims for Trump.

Also running are longtime party activist Dick Haire, former Amtrak official William Campbell and William T. Newton, who ran an unsuccessful campaign this year for the state’s 7th Congressional District seat.

The winner will be picked by more than 300 county party officials.

Gov. Larry Hogan has not endorsed anyone in the race. Steve Crim, Hogan’s political adviser, says the governor didn’t want to get involved in the race because he “believes in grass roots-up leadership.”
