FALLSTON, Md. (AP) - A Maryland high school student faces assault and other charges after authorities say he brought a lancet to school and pricked nearly two dozen students.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office says the Fallston High School student used the lancet on 23 classmates in two classrooms and a hallway Thursday. Some victims reported being struck in the neck.

WBAL-AM reported Friday (https://bit.ly/2h5junR ) that the 15-year-old has been charged as a juvenile with one count of disrupting school operations and 23 counts each of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

The sheriff’s office says the lancet, used by diabetics to draw blood samples, was fresh before the student stuck his classmates.

School administrators urged the parents of students who were pricked to contact their doctors.

Maj. Jack Simpson says the sheriff’s office believes the student “thought it was humorous.”
