BISBEE, Ariz. (AP) - The Latest on an inmate who fled the Cochise County jail (all times local):

2:15 p.m.

A Cochise County jail inmate who ran away while working on a work crew at the county jail in Bisbee has been recaptured after being spotted heading toward the U.S.-Mexico border.

The Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Pedro Sandoval Duarte of Sonora, Mexico, faces new charges after being recaptured Saturday afternoon and returned to jail.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the inmate was returned to custody after being observed on Border Patrol cameras headed south toward the border.

The Sheriff’s Office says Sandoval Duarte had run away from the jail early Saturday morning.

He been jailed since Aug. 1 and is charged with marijuana offenses, including transportation of marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale.

Multiple federal, state and local law enforcement agencies helped in the search, which included aircraft and personnel on horseback.

Cochise County authorities have set up road blocks and are searching for a 28-year-old inmate who ran off while working on a crew at the county jail in Bisbee.

The Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Pedro Sandoval Duarte of Sonora, Mexico, escaped early Saturday morning.

He was last seen wearing a green and white striped inmate uniform with orange “croc” shoes. He’s described as 5-foot-9 and 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

The Sheriff’s Office says Sandoval Duarte has been jailed since Aug. 1 and is charged with marijuana offenses, including transportation of Marijuana and possession of marijuana for sale.

The search is being conducted by personnel from the Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Border Patrol, the Bisbee Police Department, the Tombstone Marshal’s Office and the state Department of Corrections.
