JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Jody Webb rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns, including a 50-yarder in the third quarter, and Youngstown State knocked off third-seeded Jacksonville State 40-24 on Saturday in a second-round FCS playoff game.

Webb’s second touchdown came in the first minute of the second half and gave the Penguins (10-3), the third-place team out of the Missouri Valley Football Conference, a 27-17 lead over the Gamecocks (10-2), three-time champions of the Ohio Valley Conference.

Josh Clemons scored on a 2-yard run to get the Gamecocks within 27-24 with 4:07 left in the third quarter but the Penguins replied 23 seconds later on Martin Ruiz’s 8-yard scoring run, which came following Hunter Wells’ 38-yard pass to Damoun Patterson to the JSU 8. Zak Kennedy added his third and fourth field goals of the game in the fourth quarter.

Wells finished 10-of-18 passing for 290 yards, including a 70-yard TD throw to Patterson, who had 158 yards receiving.

Eli Jenkins rushed for 189 yards and a score for JSU but was only 6-of-26 passing with a TD and two interceptions.
