VALDOSTA, Ga. (AP) - Police say a 3-year-old boy was in critical but stable condition after he was run over by a float in a Christmas parade in south Georgia.

Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress said the boy was flown to UF Health Shands Hospital in Florida after being hurt during Saturday night’s Valdosta Christmas Parade.

Childress told The Valdosta Daily Times (https://bit.ly/2gDP5w1 ) that the boy was on a float and either fell from it or was trying to get off of it, and was run over by one its tires.

Authorities said the boy was initially taken to South Georgia Medical Center, then to the Florida hospital, where he was in critical but stable condition on Sunday.

Valdosta, just north of the Florida line, is about 225 miles south of Atlanta.
