West Virginia: The Mountaineers’ shot at a Big 12 title was ruined when they were rolled by Oklahoma 56-28. But West Virginia rallied to beat Iowa State and Baylor and gave the Big 12 three 10-win teams. The Mountaineers defense held nine teams to 21 points or less this season.

Miami: The Hurricanes finished the regular season on a roll, winning four straight after a 4-4 start. Miami is making its first appearance in this bowl since Teddy Bridgewater and Louisville blew the Canes out 36-9 in 2013.

West Virginia: 35th overall bowl appearance (15-19). First appearance against Miami in a bowl game.
