South Florida: QB Quinton Flowers is the league’s offensive player of the year. He has passed for 2,546 yards and rushed for 1,425 while accounting for 37 touchdowns.

South Carolina: Freshman QB Jake Bentley gets a chance to build some more experience after passing for 1,030 yards and six touchdowns in six games.


South Florida: Went 7-1 in conference games to tie for first.

South Carolina: Won four of its final six games in coach Will Muschamp’s debut season. Muschamp’s final Florida team also played in Birmingham with an interim coach.


South Carolina won the only previous meeting 34-3 on Sept. 18, 2004.


South Florida: Is 4-3 in bowl games in just the program’s 16th year at FBS level. Beat East Carolina 24-7 in this game in 2006 for first bowl win.

South Carolina: Has won four straight bowl games but is 8-12 all-time. Only Marshall (five games) has a longer current bowl winning streak.
