ELKHART, Ind. (AP) - The Latest on a fatal shooting involving Elkhart police officers (all times local):

4:20 p.m.

Authorities have identified a 29-year-old man as the person who died after gunfire involving two northern Indiana police officers.

The Elkhart Police Department says Norman Gary of Elkhart died at the scene from gunshot wounds about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police Chief Ed Windbigler says the officers were at a reported burglary when they ran toward nearby gunfire. He says the officers fired shots at a car and it crashed.

Police say two men and a woman suffered non-life-threatening wounds in the gunfire. Authorities say investigators didn’t immediately know whether Gary or anyone else was shot by the officers. One wounded person was in the car with Gary, but police declined to say which person that was.

The two officers were been placed on administrative leave. That’s standard procedure for police involved in a shooting incident.
