KING, N.C. (AP) - A 19-year-old man has been charged in connection with the shooting death of a teen in King.

Police tell local media outlets that Roger Dale Phillips III is accused of shooting 17-year-old Chanler Gilham to death outside an apartment complex on Saturday night.

Police say Gilham was shot in the chest. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday afternoon.

Authorities say the two knew each other but have not released a motive for the shooting.

Phillips was being held without bond on a charge of murder, and it wasn’t known if he had an attorney. He was expected to appear in court Monday.
