NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Police have arrested a 22-year-old New Jersey man who they say pulled the trigger in one of two separate fatal shootings that occurred in Newark this past weekend.

Brandon Williams was charged with murder and several weapons offenses on Sunday in connection with the death of 22-year-old James Goff earlier that morning.

Essex County prosecutors say the Montclair man shot Goff around 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Clifton Avenue. Police have provided no motive for the killing.

Williams remains held at the Essex County Correctional Facility after failing to post bail. It’s not known if he has a lawyer.

Along with Goff, 19-year-old Shahire Williamson was also shot to death early Sunday in Newark. Police have made no arrests in Williamson’s death.
