GREENUP, Ky. (AP) - The Greenbo Lake State Resort Park lodge is expected to reopen around Memorial Day after undergoing renovations following a fire last year.

The Daily Independent reports (https://bit.ly/2gXWJzl) the Jesse Stuart Lodge and restaurant were damaged by smoke from an October 2015 fire.

During repairs, crews also discovered damage to the building’s roof. Officials shut down the lodge until a large-scale renovation project was completed to ensure safety. The rest of the park has remained open since the fire.

Park Manager Stephanie Poplin says that while the project has taken longer than anticipated, the truss removal and replacement process is underway, along with additional upgrades to the lodge and restaurant.

Visitors can still access the rest of the park, including the picnic areas, pool, campground, marina and lake.
