NEW STANTON, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania woman and her 8-year-old son who were shot to death while they were sleeping have been laid to rest.

Monday’s funeral for 46-year-old Dana Remaley and her son Caleb was held at St. Bruno Roman Catholic Church in New Derry.

Her 14-year-old son, Jacob Remaley, remains in custody on first-degree murder and criminal homicide charges in the shootings Wednesday at the family’s New Stanton home.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for him. He’s charged as an adult.

State police say Jacob first called 911 and insinuated his father shot the victims but later confessed to using his father’s gun after his father left for work.

Police have said the teen hadn’t been getting along with his parents but otherwise didn’t offer a motive.

This story has been corrected to show that the 14-year-old is named Jacob, not Joshua.
