NEW YORK (AP) - Prosecutors say a 50-year-old Guyana man fatally stabbed his girlfriend in the neck on a street corner in Queens.

Prem Rampersaud was arrested on murder charges in the death of 46-year-old Rajwantie Baldeo. Information on his lawyer was not immediately available.

Prosecutors say the man met the victim as she finished work at a restaurant shortly after midnight Sunday in the South Richmond Hill section of the borough. They say the two were walking to a corner when they got into an argument and he stabbed her several times.

The woman was hospitalized with wounds to her neck and was later pronounced dead.

Police apprehended the suspect a few blocks from the scene of the crime.
