JUPITER ISLAND, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say more than a dozen people who appear to be from Colombia and Haiti are in custody after reaching Florida’s Atlantic coast by boat.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office says federal agents took 14 adults and two children into custody after their arrival at Jupiter Island.

Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Christine Weiss says the group is made up of six males and eight females, including one who is pregnant and was taken to a hospital for observation.

Weiss says others made have fled before authorities arrived and that air, ground and marine units of the sheriff’s office were searching the area.
