JEROME TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 28-year-old woman fatally shot her father at a home in Midland County before fleeing and fatally shooting herself.

The Midland County sheriff’s department says 67-year-old Rayton Dale Nies called authorities on Monday night from Jerome Township to say his daughter was threatening him with a gun. Sheriff’s deputies found him with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Law enforcement statewide was notified to be on the lookout for Stephanie Ann Nies and the sheriff’s department tried tracking her by using her phone.

Deputies found her car early Tuesday in Jerome Township with her dead inside with a single gunshot wound. Deputies also found the gun believed to have been used to kill her father. The circumstances of the shooting deaths are under investigation.
