CRESTWOOD, Mo. (AP) - Officials in St. Louis County’s Rockwood School District are investigating after a school bus caught fire on Interstate 44.

The bus driver got all 36 students safely off the bus after the vehicle burst into flames while traveling on I-44 in Crestwood. Moments later, flames engulfed the bus.

The bus was carrying students from Lafayette High School when the driver noticed smoke and pulled along the side of the roadway. The fire caused closure of all eastbound lanes of I-44 for a time.
