LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - A 33-year-old Waverly man has been jailed for repeatedly punching his brother.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports (https://bit.ly/2gCXjBN ) that Keith Hernandez was sentenced last week to 270 days in jail. He’d pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge after prosecutors lowered the charge from a felony.

Witnesses told deputies on Nov. 8 last year that Hernandez retaliated for punches from his 40-year-old brother, Brent, who was intoxicated. Court documents say one witness reported that it appeared Keith Hernandez was holding up his brother for more punches.

The documents say Brent Hernandez finally hit his head on the pavement when he fell to the ground and later required surgery.
