FORKS TOWNSHIP, Pa. (AP) - Police in Forks Township are investigating after a man was fatally shot by an officer.

Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli tells WFMZ-TV (https://bit.ly/2hdkqDo) that police responded to a call around 4 p.m. Friday about a person trying to kill himself. Morganelli says it’s unclear what happened afterward.

A neighborhood resident tells WFMZ-TV that he came home to find his street blocked off by officers positioned behind shields and armed with rifles. He says he was told to go into his home and he later heard two shots.

Forks Township Police Chief Gregory Dorney says the officer who fired the shot has been placed on paid administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
