MILWAUKEE (AP) - A new effort to deal with urban coyotes is underway in Milwaukee County.

The county parks department is collaborating with University of Wisconsin-Madison wildlife ecologists to trap and tag coyotes beginning Monday. The coyote management project continues through the end of next month along Underwood Creek Parkway.

WITI-TV (https://bit.ly/1KlD0FY ) reports the public is being warned to keep dogs on leashes and stay on designated trails so the traps aren’t disturbed. It’s against state law to tamper with the traps. The traps will restraint the coyotes so an ear tag can be applied for monitoring the animal’s movement.
