ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - Police in Rochester say two people have died after their car slid into the path of another vehicle on a street covered in snow and ice.

Officers responded shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a serious accident on Lake Avenue. Police say a Honda Accord was traveling north when its driver appeared to lose control on the icy road and crossed into the southbound lane, where it was hit by a Jeep Wrangler.

Officials say the passenger in the Honda was pronounced dead at Strong Memorial Hospital. The driver was later pronounced dead at the same hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle suffered a leg injury.

The names of the victims haven’t been released.
