SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - The U.S. Army Corps Engineers has denied funding for a study of Red River which was requested in response to flooding in June.

The newly-formed flood technical committee, a group of area engineers, hydrologists and other experts from Caddo-Bossier Parish, asked for $1.5 million to be allocated from the Corps’ federal budget for a study of Red River.

Chairman of the study committee, Rich Brontoli, told The Times (https://bit.ly/1Sj18fc) Tuesday the study would show the shape of the river and how development on and off the water, as well heavy sedimentary deposits, have changed the channel since it was last studied in the 1980s.
