SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) - Police say two women found fatally shot inside a Surprise home were murdered and the search continues for a suspect in the case.

Officers making a welfare check at the residence at the request of an out-of-state family member found the bodies Tuesday night.

Police identified one of the victims Wednesday as the home’s owner, 70-year-old Barbara Leslie.

The other woman also has been identified, but police are withholding the name until more of her relatives can be notified.

At a news conference Thursday, police confirmed that Leslie’s car had been stolen from her home’s garage and apparently left at a Phoenix-area apartment complex.

Police say they didn’t release that information earlier because they had the car under surveillance and hoped it would lead them to a possible suspect.
