DEDHAM, Mass. (AP) - A former cafeteria server at a Weymouth middle school has been sentenced to up to 4 ½ years in prison after pleading guilty to raping a teenage boy.

Janelle Foley was also sentenced Wednesday to five years of probation after pleading guilty to four counts of child rape in Norfolk Superior Court.

The guilty plea came just before jury selection for her trial was scheduled to start.

Prosecutors say the 38-year-old Foley was a friend of the 15-year-old boy’s family and raped him during holiday parties at his home. He was not a student at the school where she worked.

Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey said he was relieved that the case was resolved without the victim having to testify at trial.
