ST. LOUIS (AP) - Wrongful death lawsuits filed this week allege that the Missouri Department of Transportation was negligent in failing to install a cable barrier along the stretch of U.S. 61 where a woman and her two daughters were killed in a cross-over accident.

Relatives of 36-year-old Jacqueline Faudi and her 6-year-old and 7-month-old daughters filed suit this week in St. Charles County. They died in a head-on accident Jan. 21 near Wentzville.

Authorities say a northbound car lost control and struck the rear of Faudi’s car, which was also northbound, causing both cars to spin out of control and cross a grassy median. Faudi’s car struck a southbound SUV.

The suit also names the driver of the car that rear-ended Faudi’s vehicle.

A spokesman for MoDOT declined comment.
