NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have charged three teenagers with assault after a fight broke out on a school bus.

Authorities say the incident began about 2:30 p.m. Thursday when a girl on a bus carrying students from Christiana High School began throwing candy. Investigators say a piece of candy hit another girl, which led to an argument that ended in the assault of a 18-year-old male student who was punched and sprayed in the face with a chemical substance.

Two female students, ages 16 and 17, and a 17-year-old male student were charged with second-degree assault and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Police said in a news release Friday that more arrests are expected.
