NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A public charter airline will add a seasonal nonstop service from New Orleans to Destin, Florida.

New outlets report that GLO Airlines announced Thursday that the service from Louis Armstrong International Airport to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport will begin March 25 and will run through Sept. 5. The flights are scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

GLO’s founder and chief executive Trey Fayard says the company wanted to expand its services to cities in the region.

The airline launched in New Orleans last November with a focus on increasing the number of nonstop flights connecting destinations in the Gulf of Mexico and the mid-South region.

“On GLO, we want to make travel easy, convenient and comfortable, and we’re doing that through our seasonal service to one of the greatest beach regions in the world - Destin-Fort Walton Beach,” Fayard said.

Friday flights will leave New Orleans at 12:10 p.m. and return to New Orleans around 2:50 p.m. The flights Saturday and Sunday will leave New Orleans at 8:40 a.m. and return at 4:30 p.m.

The service brings Louis Armstrong International Airport’s list of nonstop destinations to 53 cities. GLO will be the fifth carrier to offer flights to Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport.

Director of aviation for Louis Armstrong International Airport Iftikhar Ahmad says the airport is very pleased with the expanding service.
