SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) - A Maine man who told detectives he got drunk, didn’t take his medication and does not remember fatally shooting his father has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

A judge in Skowhegan accepted Zachary Grant’s plea on Friday and set sentencing for March 31.

The 38-year-old Grant, of Abbott, says he doesn’t remember going to the Parkman home of his father, 61-year-old David Grant, last May. He turned the gun on himself, but survived shooting himself in the head.

Police say the elder Grant was shot to death in his front yard. The medical examiner’s office said the victim died from multiple gunshots.
