BOSSIER CITY, La. (AP) - The Bossier City Fire Department is investigation the cause of an overnight house fire the claimed the life of a 60-year-old man.

City spokesman Mark Natale (nuh-TAH-lee) said in a news release firefighters were called to the home at 12:30 a.m. Friday.

Natale says the first units to arrive on the scene reported smoke coming from the rear of the house. He says firefighters located the fire in the kitchen and managed to keep it contained to that area.

Natale says firefighters located the man lying unresponsive on a couch in the living room. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another man who lived in the house managed to escape the fire.

Natale says the name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.
