RIDGELAND, S.C. (AP) - A Jasper County man has been sentenced to 23 years in prison after being convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of his brother.

Local media outlets report that a Jasper County jury deliberated almost three hours Wednesday before convicting 23-year-old Nathaniel Wright of Ridgeland.

Wright was also convicted of possession of a weapon during a violent crime stemming from the October, 2014, shooting death of his 36-year-old brother Maurice Wright.

Prosecutors say the two had been arguing over money when Maurice Wright was shot eight times.

Nathaniel Wright will have to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence - almost 20 years.
