SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Human remains have been discovered in Santa Clara County for the second time this week.

The San Jose Mercury News reports (https://bayareane.ws/1mxa2aS) a woman stumbled across a human skull Thursday afternoon while trying to fetch her cell phone.

Authorities also found what appears to be a human femur bone at the spot near Interstate 280 and San Jose City College. California Highway patrol is investigating.

The woman had been fighting with a friend, who threw her cell phone over a highway fence. She called San Jose police upon discovering the remains.

On Wednesday, a PG&E; contractor discovered another set of remains in unincorporated Gilroy, Calif.

The county coroner’s office is trying to determine the gender and age of both sets of remains.
