TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Two men are dead following a wrong-way crash on an exit ramp of Interstate 275 near downtown Tampa.

The Florida Highway Patrol reports that the crash happened at 5:45 a.m. Friday on the Ashley Drive exit. The crash caused a rush hour traffic jam.

A crash report says that 47-year-old Larry Thompson was driving the wrong way when he crashed his car nearly head-on into 65-year-old Eugene Fischer’s SUV. Both men were reported dead at the scene.

The highway patrol is investigating the cause of the crash. It wasn’t immediately known if drugs or alcohol were involved.
