BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) - Gage County District Judge Paul Korslund has announced he will retire in April.

Korslund’s retirement is effective April 1. He was appointed to the bench in 1998 by then-Gov. Ben Nelson.

Korslund has served on numerous Nebraska Supreme Court committees, including the Nebraska Court Re-Engineering Task Force, the Parenting Act Fund Policy Committee, the Commission on Children in the Court, and the Subcommittee on Children in the District Courts.

In 2008, Korslund received the Nebraska Supreme Court’s outstanding judge award for service to the community.

The Judicial Resources Commission will meet to determine whether, based on judicial workload statistics, Korslund’s retirement creates a vacancy in the 1st Judicial District.
