PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Portland police say one of their officers has pleaded guilty to first-degree official misconduct and resigned from the force.

Officer Jeromie Palaoro entered the guilty plea in Multnomah County Court and resigned on Friday.

The Oregonian reports (https://goo.gl/qXWvo7 ) the plea comes after a woman said in July 2015 Palaoro responded to her domestic complaint report and later went to her hotel room and coerced her into unwanted sexual contact.

The 44-year-old officer had worked with the Portland Police Bureau for seven years.

He was ordered to serve a year and a half on probation, lose his state police certification and ordered to resign from his job.

Palaoro’s attorney, Michael Staropoli, said his client accepts full responsibility for his conduct, but “adamantly denies and refutes” the account given by the woman of what occurred.
