WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Fire officials say one person is dead after an overnight apartment fire in Waterloo.

Cedar Rapids television station KCRG reports (https://bit.ly/1So4cGS ) that fire crews responded around 11:30 p.m. Friday to a report of the fire.

Officials say after firefighters arrived, they found 53-year-old Ray Reed suffering from serious burns. He later died.

Fire investigators are looking into how the fire started, but said Saturday they don’t believe foul play is the cause of the fire. The Waterloo fire department says Reed’s death is the city’s first fire fatality of 2016.
