CHARENTON, La. (AP) - A man has been arrested on attempted murder charges after police say he fired his gun in the parking lot of an Indian casino.

Chitimacha tribal Police Chief Hal Hutchinson tells KATC-TV (https://bit.ly/1Qzo6bW) that Alfred Gabriel was arrested early Saturday morning by St. Mary Parish sheriff’s deputies.

Gabriel, 55, faces tribal charges including two counts of attempted second degree murder, illegal gun possession by a convicted felon and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

He also faces a fugitive warrant from Texas for violating sex offender requirements.

Officers say Alfred Gabriel shot at his ex-girlfriend and her current boyfriend during an argument at the Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel Wednesday afternoon. No one was injured.

Police found his vehicle abandoned near the St. Mary Co-op sugar mill in Jeanerette.
