JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - University of Mississippi Medical Center has named Don Hutson to lead its hospitals in Grenada and Lexington.
A Corinth native, Hutson now leads the Marion VA Medical Center in Illinois, which provides health care to military veterans in parts of Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky.
Hutson was the administrator and chief executive officer of Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford from 2008 to 2012.
A retired Army lieutenant colonel, Hutson also led military hospitals and clinics during his 21-year Army career.
UMMC Holmes County is licensed for 25 beds, while recently acquired UMMC Grenada is licensed for 156 beds.
Administrator David Putt, who oversaw UMMC’s integration of the Grenada hospital, is retiring in June. Hutson starts work next month.
