NEW YORK (AP) - Brooke Lefferts, a former senior producer for Fox News and an editor and writer for outlets including Today.com and FoxNews.com, has been named the U.S. entertainment video editor for The Associated Press.

Lefferts will be based in New York City and oversee the video output for broadcasters and digital customers, from spot news to planned events like the Academy Awards. She will manage a team of producers and video journalists in New York, Los Angeles and Nashville.

Lefferts also will be a key part of the AP’s international video coverage, coordinating with editors worldwide to provide global coverage that reflects Hollywood and international stars making news worldwide. In addition, Lefferts will work with text editors to provide all-formats content that drives audience engagement on traditional, mobile, and social platforms.

“Brooke is a highly skilled leader who will bring great ideas and great energy to the newsroom. She will further elevate the AP’s entertainment coverage and help shape its direction in the years to come,” said Nekesa Moody, the AP’s Global Entertainment & Lifestyles Editor.

At Fox, Lefferts managed editorial content for its news feed service for 130 Fox affiliates and oversaw coverage of political conventions, awards shows and other major events, including breaking news. She also boosted the service’s entertainment coverage.

Lefferts has been a contributor to outlets including the AP and Today.com as a writer. She was also an editor for FoxNews.com.

She began her career at ABC News as an associate producer before leaving for Fox, where she held several positions before rising to senior producer.

Lefferts, a graduate of Tufts University, is a native of Chicago.
