RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia State Police are identifying a Chester woman killed in one of at least three fatal crashes on icy roads.

Police said in a news release Tuesday that 53-year-old Sharon Letender was standing with a trooper and a man on the median of Route 288 in Chesterfield County after a crash Monday evening. That’s when a car hit the trooper’s car and the trio, throwing Letender into a nearby firefighter. Police say Letender died and the trooper and the man were taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

In Fauquier County, police say 63-year-old Steven Gibbs of Linden was killed Monday morning when his SUV hit a snow plow. In Loudoun County, police say a woman was killed Monday night when her car rear-ended a backhoe.
