BEND, Ore. (AP) - Construction at Bend Whitewater Park on the Deschutes River is expected to be complete this month.

The Bulletin reports (https://is.gd/7HEsAB ) that the park, which first opened last fall, has been closed to the public so crews can address issues paddlers and floaters had with rocks lining the safe-passage channel.

Repairs began in October to help man-made waves move more effectively through the whitewater channel.

Bend Park & Recreation District Executive Director Don Horton says crews should complete their work this month, but it will be uncertain if the fixes worked until the river is higher. River flows in the river are held back in the winter for the irrigation season.
