PHOENIX (AP) - Jury selection is set to resume Wednesday at the trial of an Arizona man charged with supporting the Islamic State terrorist group and helping to plan an attack last year at a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest in Texas.

Tuesday marked the first day of jury selection for 44-year-old Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem.

About 100 people remain in the jury pool.

The trial is believed to be the first time the government has put a person on trial on charges related to the Islamic State.

Kareem is accused of providing the guns used in the May 3 attack.

Authorities say Kareem and the two men who carried out the Texas attack also researched travel to the Middle East so they could join Islamic State fighters.

Kareem denies the allegations.
