Rhode Island State Police have arrested a Newport teenager who’s accused of making bomb threats to multiple schools and businesses across the state.

Police said Tuesday the 16-year-old Rogers High School student is facing 15 counts of making bomb threats and false reports, two counts of extortion and blackmail and one count of access to a computer for fraudulent purposes.

Police haven’t released the juvenile’s identity.

The teen is accused of making several threats over the past two months to various schools and private businesses. Authorities are investigating whether others were involved.

The teen is being held at the Rhode Island Training School and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday for a bail hearing.
