COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Police say a Colorado Springs woman accidentally shot her boyfriend while trying to fend off a dog she says was being aggressive.

The Gazette reports (https://goo.gl/DCECcE ) Beatrice Dallas told investigators she shot a dog in her home Monday night to prevent it from attacking another dog. In the process, her boyfriend was also shot in the leg.

The dog died, and the man was treated for minor injuries.

Police say multiple dogs were living with the couple in their home, and some of them were known to be aggressive.

An attempt by The Associated Press to find a phone number for Dallas was unsuccessful Tuesday night. She was cited with reckless endangerment.
