VINTON, Iowa (AP) - Five people have been charged in connection with the fatal accidental shooting of a 14-year-old girl in eastern Iowa.

One of the five is a 52-year-old woman who faces a federal charge of providing a firearm to a prohibited person. Authorities say she provided a semiautomatic rifle to her 16-year-old son, who she knew used marijuana. The Associated Press generally doesn’t name juveniles accused of crimes, so is not using the name of the woman.

Another of the five arrested is a teenager charged with involuntary manslaughter and other crimes. The others arrested face drug and other charges.

Authorities say Emma Redlinger was shot in the head Feb. 24, 2015, by a teen handling the rifle at a home in Vinton. She died four days later at a hospital.
