SOMERDALE, N.J. (AP) - An 88-year-old driver smashed his van into a New Jersey pizza shop, but none of the workers or patrons was injured.

Officials say the man slammed into Mama Nuccio’s Pizzeria in Somerdale Tuesday night. Footage of the aftermath shows the front completely gone, and booths smashed and piled up onto each other near the counter.

Police tell WCAU-TV (https://bit.ly/218gEMB ) that the driver thought the van was in reverse and accelerated, crashing through the glass storefront. The shop’s owner and employees were inside but no one was injured.

Shop owner Robert Croce says his workers were concerned about him but they found each other in amid the damage.

Crews removed the van but there is extensive damage to the building. It’s not clear if the driver will be charged.
