COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - It’s been another record year for exports in South Carolina.

State officials announced Wednesday that the state exported nearly $31 billion worth of goods in 2015, an increase of more than 4 percent over 2014.

It was the sixth straight year that exports from South Carolina set a record. The figures are based on numbers from the U.S. Commerce Department.

Completed passenger motor vehicle exports comprised almost $10 billion of South Carolina’s total. The state leads the nation in that category. The state is also the nation’s top exporter of tires, exporting 28 percent of the national total.

South Carolina last year also led the nation in exports of ball and roller bearings and of lawn mowers.
