MADISON, Wis. (AP) - The parents of a slain University of Wisconsin-Madison student are renewing their plea that anyone with information about the 2008 homicide contact police.

Kevin and Jean Zimmermann released a statement to the Wisconsin State Journal (https://bit.ly/1Og13Bi ) that says police have DNA that could lead to an arrest in their daughter’s case if additional information about the case is gathered.

Twenty-one-year-old Brittany Zimmermann, from Marshfield, was strangled and stabbed in her downtown Madison apartment in April 2008. Police say she had just returned from classes when someone followed her into her apartment and killed her.

Police Chief Mike Koval says he can’t comment on an open investigation.
