WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - West Des Moines police have charged a Van Meter man in connection with a hit-and-run that left a Tennessee man dead.

Police announced Wednesday that 37-year-old Ronald Hauser turned himself in to authorities Tuesday. He has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in a death of a person and drunken driving.

On Aug. 23, officers found the body of 21-year-old Daulton Holly on a West Des Moines road. Police say the man had been struck by a vehicle. Holly was a resident of Troy, Tennessee.

Hauser was released on bond Tuesday. Online court records do not reflect whether he has an attorney who could be reached for comment.
