BOONTON, N.J. (AP) - Family members say a New Jersey state judge has died from injuries he suffered in a fall last week.

Superior Court Judge Edward Gannon fell backward on a step outside a Boonton deli on Friday and hit his head. His brother says it’s not clear if a medical issue caused the fall.

The 63-year-old jurist had been on life support after being injured.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday.

Gannon was appointed to the Morris-Sussex vicinage in 1991 and handled civil, criminal and family division matters during his tenure on the bench. He also served as a judge in Passaic County.
